CORONAVIRUS & OUR EVENTS

updated April 23, 2021
After a long winter and hard year, things are gradually starting to reopen and come back. Our first in person event is starting this Sunday! It’s small, with just a live duo for a Jazz Brunch at our fav spot Bierhaus, but we’re thrilled since it’s a first step towards bringing back events. We expect things to come back gradually and slowly, so we will continue to produce out online variety show The Quarantine Speakeasy. In the meantime, stay safe, wear a mask and get vaccinated so we can get back to more in person events!

NYC is still in "Phase 4" of reopening and more things are coming back, but all bars & clubs are still closed for indoor dining - which means we can't hold our events (restaurants can have outdoor dining). All our regular events remain on hiatus -- we are eager to keep moving in the right direction (so wear your masks)! We cannot wait to get back to bringing people together, making music, lounging and dancing. In meantime, be sure to tune into our all-star livestream every other Saturday, The Quarantine Speaekasy… and we list dozens of virtual events in our weekly e-Blast that you can enjoy from the safety of your home.

NYC is in "Phase 1" of re-opening, but all bars, clubs, and restaurants are still closed due to the COVID-19. All our regular events remain on hiatus until further notice... but "Phase 2" is supposed to start this Monday, so we are eager to keep moving in the right direction (so wear your masks!). We cannot wait to get back to bringing people together, making music, lounging and dancing; but we still believe it to be several weeks away at best, if not more. In the meantime we've compiled a list of virtual events you can enjoy from the safety of your home.

—> The GOTHAM JAZZ FESTIVAL has been cancelled <—

It saddens our hearts to announce that due to COVID-19 we have to cancel the Festival on April 19th. The Players (Club) board of directors decided to not allow events over 50 people until at least May, and has also closed their doors until further notice. We had hoped to see how things developed over the next few weeks, but now have no choice. We are exploring other options to have a streaming or virtual Festival, but this will be hard to do without a major sponsor (contact us if interested). Ticket holders will be issued full-refunds shortly from Eventbrite. Please try and support the 80 musicians whom were to perform at the Festival… if you can, please buy CDs and recordings, take online lessons, or watch virtual concerts - below is a partial list of the Festival’s bands / band leaders:

—> SURVEY by NYC Office of Nightlife Survey (avail thru March 27th) <—
(We filled this out and recommend all musicians and performers affected to do so as well)
“The Office of Nightlife at the NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment is gathering information on the impacts for workers, performers, contractors, and businesses from COVID-19-related business closures and event cancellations. Please provide details for your canceled shifts, gigs, events, and other lost business income, revenue, or work opportunities so that we can share details with city-wide policy makers about the impacts of these closures.”

Current event cancellations:
Jazz Haus on March 16th and 23rd (Bierhaus NYC)

Events still happening as planned at: SUGAR EAST, LADUREE, and SECRET ROOM;
as well as GOTHAM JAZZ FESTIVAL

We could all use a drink at this crazy time; AND at any of our upcoming events moving forward we encourage solo dancing, listening to live music, elbow bumps, no handshakes; responsible & hygenic dancing (ie with your partner / significant other / washing hands frequently), saying "no" to any dance, and social distancing as needed.

Venues, musicians, and performers are losing tons of gigs and revenue, so we're thrilled to not be cancelled at several venues. But we are closely monitoring the situation, and following newly issued state guidelines for small events (under 500 people).

Please check our Facebook Pages and Website for updates & any cancellations as things are constantly changing. We want everyone to be safe, so do what you gotta do, but come out if inspired!
